Matrix Prints by Kevin Tong and French Connection Prints by Adam Simpson Drop Tomorrow
With all the build up to the Ken Taylor gallery show, it's easy to forget that Mondo still had not had an online poster release this week. Well, they saved a couple of good ones, with new prints for "The Matrix" and "The French Connection" being revealed today.
[caption id="attachment_6300" align="aligncenter" width="396"] French Connection - Regular Edition[/caption]Both properties, like much of the Taylor show, have never been tackled by Mondo previously. It's exciting to see these new properties and I'm sure all fans of the films have started to compile a mental list of artists they're eager to see take a stab at these films in the future.
[caption id="attachment_6301" align="aligncenter" width="397"] French Connection - Variant Edition[/caption]First up is Adam Simpson's work for the French Connection. Simpson deviates from the layout of his last two Mondo prints, Rear Window and Home Alone, and creates something that both feels classic and captures the film perfectly. What better image to base a French Connection print around than one of the most famous chase scenes in film history?
[caption id="attachment_6302" align="aligncenter" width="385"] The Matrix - Regular Edition[/caption]As for the Matrix, Tong once again make a 3-4 color screen print feel as though it had 7 or 8, particularly with the regular. While we're sure most Matrix fans are eager to see Neo or Agent Smith, give kudos to Tong for choosing to show the film from a different perspective.
