Tyler Stout to Release His First Print With Dark Hall Mansion
Dark Hall Mansion has been teasing a big release for a while now, even asserting that the mystery artist was "arguably one of the biggest names" in industry. Well, we recently found out that they weren't exaggerating, when the artist in question turned out to be none other than Tyler Stout. No arguments there on Stout being one of the biggest names in the game. In fact, he may be the biggest. However, it wasn't until today that we found out what it was Stout and DHM had up their collective sleeve. Today, DHM revealed the project were two music prints inspired by Jimi Hendrix.
[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="256"] Regular Edition[/caption]There are a bunch of surprises here. First, seeing Stout with another film print outlet like DHM is a little shocking. Not because he has some exclusive agreement with Mondo, but more because we rarely see him teaming up with any other pop culture galleries or online sites. There are some notable exceptions -- Il Grande Lebowski comes to mind -- but they are few and far between and none are too recent. This leads to the second surprise: it wasn't a film print. DHM typically releases film or television related material, although they have released music prints -- such as the Shag Beetles piece from 2013 -- we were expecting the pairing of DHM and Stout to yield a film print.
[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="256"] Variant Edition[/caption]In any event, don't mistake these surprises for disappointments. Stout, like he typically does, hit this one out of the park. It really is a beautiful piece, and allows Tyler to tackle a different subject matter than he normally does. Any fan of Hendrix would be extremely lucky to have this on the wall. The likenesses are spot on, the text is appropriately psychedelic and he even has the left handed Hendrix playing the guitar upside down.
Drop Details:
These may be a little confusing but here's the gist: There will be a pre-sale of these prints for anyone who has previously purchased either the Shag or Whalen folios sold by DHM. They will contact you directly for purchase this Friday and you will have 24 hours to purchase. After that time, any remaining prints will be offered randomly through a waiting list at a date not yet determined. In the meantime, you can send an email to info@darkhallmansion.com with either Jimi-Stout:Std or Jimi-Stout:Variant in the subject line, if you want to put your name on the waiting list.
