Matt Taylor Tackles The Breakfast Club
In honor of the 30th Anniversary of the Breakfast Club (yes, it's been 30 years), Mondo will release two new screen prints for the film by Matt Taylor.
[caption id="attachment_8861" align="aligncenter" width="405"] Regular Edition[/caption]The print are cleverly designed to invoke all the individual characters by their shoes, ostensibly because Taylor wasn't able to show their faces. Jay Ryan similarly improvised with his print for the film when he swapped out each character's facial features for their "labels" -- i.e., Nerd, Jock etc.
[caption id="attachment_8860" align="aligncenter" width="412"] Variant Edition[/caption]With its vivid colors -- especially the variant -- the prints also evoke Matt's great work on Back to the Future late last year. All in all, these are very solid prints from an artist who keeps impressing. Maybe there's a Mondo Gallery show in his future? We can only hope.
Drop Details: These both go on sale tomorrow, March 10th, at a random time on Mondo's website. The regular is an edition of 275 and will cost $40, while the variant has an edition of 125 and will cost $60. Both pieces measure 18x24, and are hand numbered.
